Improved livelihoods

About 1.2 Billion people are living in extreme poverty, which means that they have less than 1.25 US$ per day. With more than three quarters of the world’s poor living in rural areas and depending on farming, higher farmer incomes are a prerequisite for sustained poverty reduction. Current food systems contribute to inequality due to power concentration in value chains.

By stimulating investments and supporting innovation in the food and agribusiness sector, we foster inclusive growth and help entrepreneurs creating a (global) market for smallholder farmers and so contribute to a better income for their households.
